WBT Champions Cup

WBT Champions Cup

World Bridge Tour (WBT) is proud to introduce the WBT Champions Cup in January 2021. The WBT Champions Cup has been created for bridge players at the highest level and for people who enjoy kibitzing top level bridge.

The organizers of WBT Champions Cup events for the first half of 2021 will be OCBL, E-Open and WBH. They have been pioneers in organizing top level online events since March 2020 when Covid-19 changed the bridge world. These organizers share WBT’s vision about a fair game with zero tolerance for cheating and bad behaviour.

By joining forces, we have committed to the rules and regulations within the World Bridge Tour. We believe we are stronger together under the WBT umbrella than by arranging separate tournaments.

World Bridge Holding (WBH) will arrange WBT Masters scheduled to week 9 and 20 with only 16 participating teams, and a WBT Champions Cup Final at the end of the season (June) with only 8 teams. All tournaments will be played online for the first season. In the future WBT Masters and WBT Champions Cup Final may be played as a face-to-face (FTF) tournament.

It will be entertaining for the spectators to follow the WBT Champions Cup. All tables can be watched “live” on BBO, so you can log in and kibitz any player you like. We will publish extensive results and rankings, plus new exciting statistics. We also introduce the WBT Points which you earn by playing WBT Champions Cup events.

It is the teams earning the most WBT Points which make it to WBT Masters and WBT Champions Cup Final. One spot in the WBT Champions Cup Final will be awarded to the winner of the WBT Challengers Cup Final.

World Bridge Holding will work on commercialising the World Bridge Tour with a clear strategy of providing both live-streaming with world class commentators as well as making a product prepared for tele broadcasting.
